«Dia diwo̱ a si makaka dibomba !». According to this african proverb from the duala-duala people of Cameroon, "a single hand can’t pack up a parcel". This can be understood as «People find strength in numbers». When we initiated the Duala-duala Online Open Hub project, also abbriaved DOOH, we had this idea in mind, and our aim is to keep it all along as a guideline.
As a result of our obeservations, we noticed that many individual initiatives are trying to act for the survival and the promotion of the duala-duala cultural inheritance. But unfortunately, most of these initiatives are still confidential, isolated and only known by very few people.
Therefore, the DOOH portal was created basically with the following main objective: Initiate an online workgroup working for the survival, the enrichment, the modernization and the promotion of the duala-duala cultural patrimony.
Our belief is that this cultural inheritance belongs not to the duala-duala people only, but as part of the global cultural patromony, this inheritance must be known and made accessible to everyone.
The success of this project depends on the skills and the mobilization of all those with concerns about global cultural patrimony and cultural diversity.
